The weekend of events kicked off on a rainy Friday evening 5 May signalling the beginning of a weekend exploring the Dardenup Art Trail. Luckily the weather fined up for a weekend of fine festivities.
On Saturday morning Lyndendale Gallery got things underway with a bang – champagne corks were popping indicating the opening of the exhibition at around 12.30pm, when gallery owner Denise Gilles welcomed everone declaring the exhibition open. Visitors enjoyed a pleasant lunch, serenaded by local musicians. Displays of watercolour paintings, etchings, handmade books, textiles, ceramics and jewellery, delighted an ongoing entourage of visitors throughout the day.
Creative writing classes have been running at the gallery since early this year and many writing students entered samples of their literary works adding another dimension to the exhibition. Writing pieces were displayed on a board as well as in a book beautifully made by Jane Flower.
With more than a dozen galleries, wineries and breweries to visit it’s a great day / weekend out so if you missed it this year, it’s an annual event so be sure to put it in your diary for next year …
