Volunteers Celebrate
Over forty volunteers gathered at the Gelorup Community Centre on Friday 29th June to take time out and enjoy themselves. Organised by Margaret Smith, the night was to say thank you to all the volunteers in the community. Everyone was treated to social night of music and entertainment, as well as a home cooked three course meal.
The crowd was entertained by musician Bill Shepherd and Bush Poet champion, Don Martin. Don entertained and amused everyone with his bush poets version of “The Man from Snowy River” performed with great gusto.
Margaret expressed thanks to everyone who helps out in the varying groups, activities and markets and thanked all the volunteers for their ongoing support and commitment, saying they are an integral part of the community.
While the Strong Angels volunteer group do a great deal to help out in Bali, she added they also do a lot of work locally, helping the Women’s Refuge Centre, Mission to Seamen and the Food Bank to name a few.
Margaret also reminded everyone that the Gelorup hall is having a significant birthday next year when it turns twenty and there is a celebration in the pipeline to mark that occasion. Any photos, memorabilia from the early days and ideas are all welcome.
Volunteers from the Wellness Group, Fire Brigade and Library joined in the festivities and gathered from Gelorup, Dalyellup, Stratham and College Grove, exchanging stories and a good night was had by all.

More photos to be added soon …
Well done to all the Gelorup volunteers for all their hard work, and to you Ingrid for your professional and newsy articles in the Gelorup Gazette.
