Words in the Valley

Words in the Valley 2013

In July I spent a day in Bridgetown (sometimes, affectionately referred to by visitors as “Fridgetown” as it is known to be a little “crisp” at that time of the year.  This was the time of the annual “Words in the Valley” writers and readers festival, sponsored by Writing WA.

Went early in the morning to have a delightful breakfast at Nelsons Hotel where we joined readers and writing colleagues to listen to author Deb Burrows talk about her new books – A stranger in my street and Taking a chance. Deb who is a Lawyer as well as an author was greatly inspired by the memories and recollections of her mother during the Second World War.

A series of creative writing workshops were run during the day at the new state of the art library – what a great asset to this great literary town.
