Thrills from South Side Quills
Mayor Gary Brennan launched the South Side Quills anthology The Runaway Quill on Thursday 25 August at the Bunbury City Library. The launch was a great success with around sixty people attending.
Mr Brennan said it was good to see community members involved in projects that help to enrich the community. He compared Bunbury to larger cities saying that Bunbury has everything bigger cities have, just on a smaller scale.
Quills member and published author Jim McRobert was MC for the event and introduced Quills members who spoke of the history of the group since its inception in 2009. Members expressed their gratitude for the City of Bunbury’s support in the project and the audience was entertained by members, reading excerpts from their stories in the anthology.
After the formal proceedings everyone mingled and met the writers. Books were available to purchase, and writers were available to sign their books for anyone who bought books. Books are selling well and are available from various outlets, including Lyndendale Gallery and the Bunbury Museum and Heritage centre.
