Quills 3rd Book Launch

The South Side Quills writers launched their third anthology on Thursday 8 December at the Bunbury City Library.

“Aspects of Childhood” is an eclectic mix of stories containing short stories, memoir, fact, fiction and poetry. The variety of stories originate from writing prompts, others reminiscent of diary entries and memories. All are based on a truth from somewhere.

The attractive cover is a professional photograph by local photographer, Jodie Deeley which encapsulates the essential innocence of childhood. The anthology also contains several illustrations by members of the group who are also artists.

Founding member, Ingrid Rickersey said the group is most grateful for the support of the City of Bunbury, who assisted with funding the project with a Small Community Grant. Bunbury Mayor, Jaysen Miguel officially launched the anthology.

Ms Rickersey said the group has enjoyed many writing successes over the years in winning writing competitions and publishing feature articles, short stories and novels.

“South Side Quills has been a thriving group since it’s inception in 2009, with a constant membership of around twelve. The group meets monthly at the library to share writing news and ideas, critique one another’s work and we manage to have a few laughs along the way”,  Ms Rickersey said.

At the launch, guests were entertained by members reading excerpts from the anthology, live music and socialising with drinks and light refreshments.

Copies of the anthology are available locally from the Bunbury Museum and Sabotage clothing / gift shop in Victoria Street, Bunbury or you can contact Ingrid on 0411 256 144. The book can also be purchased on line through Book Depository, Booktopia or Amazon.
